Joanie Krings - Principal  

Joanie Krings joined The Waterford Executive Group in 1997, attaining the title of Principal after only 18 months.  Joanie focuses primarily on the placement of Retirement/Pension Actuaries, Communication Consultants, Benefits and Human Resources Consultants.

 She has performed at or near the top of the firm for the number of placements and number of new clients brought into WEG. She has a unique ability to partner with her client companies in terms of fully understanding their culture, philosophy and technical requirements, allowing her to expedite the search process, and ultimately place extremely well-qualified candidates over and over again.  When she is given a search assignment, she engages with the highest level of tenacity and determination, while always maintaining meticulous documentation of every call made and every contact reached.

 

Prior to joining WEG, Joanie was with HCI Corporation, another respected recruiting firm in the suburbs of Chicago. Her first 3 years were spent in the search and placement of executive level manufacturing professionals, as well as learning the basics of recruiting in the actuarial field. This turned out to be her stepping stone into the field where she has been blessed with success. While with HCI, some of her more notable clients included, Coleman, Anderson Packaging, Dopaco and Bemis Mfg.

 

Joanie started her recruiting career at Advanced Search Group (ASG) in Lombard, IL in 1990. Her primary focus was on the manufacturing sector, placing production supervisors, managers and executives. While at ASG she developed a strong sense of client relationship building and client service. Some of her more notable client companies included Brach’s Candy, Tootsie Roll, James River Corporation, Packaging Corporation of America and Alberto Culver.  She was named rookie of the year in 1991, as well as Recruiter of the year on 1993.

Patrick Atkinson - President and Founder 
Patrick graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1983, where he was captain of the men’s ice hockey team and a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.  He immediately joined C.P.S., a large recruiting firm in Westchester, Illinois where he specialized in the recruitment of manufacturing and distribution professionals. After two years of honing his recruiting skills he was promoted to a section manager within C.P.S.  After three years he left C.P.S. and joined a start-up recruiting firm called Search Centre Inc. in Downers Grove, Illinois as Director. He hired, trained and managed a staff of recruiters working in the fields of Actuarial, Benefits and Compensation. At a very young age, he was directly responsible for up to 20 recruiters that reported to him. Clients consisted of insurance companies, large accounting firms, multinational corporations and consulting firms. He maintained his own desk and continued to work as a recruiter throughout his tenure there.

In July of 1990 Patrick and his brother Neil opened Waterford Executive Group (W.E.G.) in St. Charles, Illinois. The firm specialized in actuarial, benefits and compensation positions, both in corporate settings as well as consulting firms. Patrick became sole owner in January of 1992 and relocated the firm to the current location in Winfield, Illinois. While he does manage the overall functions of the firm and its associates, he actively recruits on client assignments and continually looks for new client opportunities. He has become an expert on the functional field of compensation and has personally placed over 200 professionals in compensation-related positions. He considers himself a partner to his many long-term client companies and a “player-coach” to his colleagues at W.E.G.

He is married and the proud father of two children.  He and his family reside  in the suburbs of Chicago.  In his spare time, he loves to travel and enjoys playing Ice Hockey, Racquetball and Golf.

 

Ted Tomei - Principal  
Ted has been recruiting since 1983. At that time he learned the search industry as a recruiter in the high tech manufacturing field, filling positions with professional staff ranging from BSEE's to PhD's on a nationwide basis. Starting in 1988 Ted applied his recruiting skills to the employee compensation and benefits area filling positions in major benefits consulting firms along with major insurance companies. His search experience consists of contingency, exclusive and retained assignments.

Ted provides a thorough and effective service and value to clients and candidates, utilizing his knowledge and experience in the business. He holds a BA in Liberal Arts from St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa. After graduating college he spent nine years as a member of management in a large corporate environment before entering the search industry.
